Low testosterone (male hypogonadism)—commonly referred to as Low T— is when the testes fail to function properly. Testosterone is a hormone produced by the human body. Testosterone is sometimes called the “male sex hormone” and affects a man’s appearance, sexual development, sperm production, and sex drive. Treatment is available, but there is currently no cure for low testosterone.
